Note of Appreciation: Please accept our sincerest appreciation for your initial support of the Linden Community P.R.I.D.E 5k event, scheduled September 9th. While our date for the 2018 event has moved by 1 day (Saturday, September 8th) our commitment to the Linden Community and presenting an inaugural 5k Run has not. So tentatively mark your calendars for July 2019….additional details forthcoming.
Rationale: As with any major first-time community event, the ability to manage costs and logistics so as to ensure affordability and convenience for the families and organizations residing in Linden were critical to the event’s overall success. Regrettably, within the final planning phase of the event, several variables became increasingly unpredictable.
Solution: In lieu of postponing the event until 2019, we have created a unique approach to support residents while highlighting the rich history, heritage, and vibrancy of our Linden Community! After exploring all available options, the planning committee elected to move forward with a hybrid September 2018 event as a celebratory lead into a larger 5k event for 2019.
Distance: The current construction at Easton prevents the ability for a 5k Run. The alternative solution was to redesign a specific 3k course to still take place safely in consideration of participating families and children. We certainly understand the potential disappointment of our 5k enthusiasts but hope you will join with us in support of what we believe to be the greater good at this juncture for the families and organizations we support throughout Linden.
Impact: Expanded corporate partnership participation, affordable registration fee capped at $25 for non-residents and $10 for Linden residents, children under the age of 12 participate for free. Added conveniences include expanded parking options for participants, availability of Cota passes for Linden residents and expanded programming for the Wellness Expo.
Proceeds: Proceeds from the event will be used to support families and organizations involved with current and future community initiatives, including but not limited to providing affordable housing, reducing hunger and infant mortality, eradicating human trafficking and extending educational opportunities to Linden residents of all ages.
Refunds: In cooperation with Race Penguin, our event Management Company, we will certainly honor the refund request of anyone that has previously registered. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience the change in date and venue may have caused. For those participants already registered prior to August 20th, but unable to participate who still want to make a contribution we will honor your fee as a credit toward early registration for our 2019 Event.
September 8th: We invite you to join us in partnership with Easton Town Center. Beginning on Townsfair Way (across from Barnes and Noble), the event will feature various family-friendly activities including a Wellness Information Expo, Fitness Warm-up, Kidz Zone, Music, Marching Band Drumline, games, and prizes. We are proud to call the Linden community our HOME! Please join us for what promises to be a unique celebration convening faith, fitness, and fellowship.
Thank you for your consideration and again we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience our change in date and venue may have caused.
In Partnership & Progress!
