Who We Are
Our Mission: Creating a Connected Community.
The Community and Economic Development Arm of New Salem Church
Over the past twenty years, our Community of Caring non-profit entity (The Foundation) has continued its commitment to investing in the lives of individuals and families in the Linden Community.
Through its successful public/private partnerships model, The Foundation has provided access to affordable housing for more than 1,000 families, served over 300,000 meals, secured more than $100,000 in community grants and presented more than $70,000 in academic scholarships.
Our daily mission is to Create a Connected Community – and we’re pretty good at it. As a faith-based non-profit entity we are uniquely positioned at the market-place intersection of sacred (vertical) and secular (horizontal) needs….balancing the interest of both commerce and community. Each day we work to leverage the resources and relationships of our 104-year-old church institution to build bridges of opportunity for Linden area individuals, families, and businesses while increasing access for our partners.
By following our CARE Model: Connect, Affirm, Respect, and Empower. In an effort to align mutual interest, every day we connect without judgement, affirm the value of each person, and respect various viewpoints. When we get it right the result is a positive community environment where individuals are empowered with various tools and resources to make healthy life choices that advance the overall well-being of the Linden Community.
As the Community and Economic Development Arm of New Salem Church, the Community of Caring Development Foundation (The Foundation) has planted “seeds of hope” in Linden for more than two decades – long enough to witness what can be accomplished when neighbors join together to create a connected community.
Through The Foundation, New Salem Church has been and continues to be at the forefront of community revitalization initiatives throughout the northeast quadrant of Columbus, Ohio, including an expanding role as convener and thought-leader in the revitalization of Linden.
With our beyond the walls platform, The Foundation brings a diverse offering of programs in the areas of community wealth building, education, housing, health & wellness, and a real estate development advisory project portfolio in access of $100 million dollars. Our focus and impact areas are aligned with the City of Columbus’ One Linden Plan’s Top 10 Big Ideas.
